course description
Learn the theory and practice of designing and developing computer games.
This course offers the opportunity to learn the wide range of skills necessary to bring an interactive game experience to life such as UI design, coding game mechanics or video game art & animation.
Students will have the opportunity to express their own ideas as they work on a year long project, taking them through the design, prototyping and development of an original computer game outcome. There will be the opportunity to gain Achievement Standard credits throughout the year.
Software such as GDevelop (or a game engine of the student’s choice, in consultation with their teacher), Photoshop or other digital media tools will be used to design and develop game backgrounds, animated characters and game objects.
Note: Students cannot choose both L2GDD and L2ACP (Animation & Cinematic Production) due to assessment crossover, but may select multiple L2 Digital Technologies courses otherwise.
