pre-requisites
14 credits in Level 2 Chemistry including a pass in at least one external. Students who do not meet these prerequisites must have internal credits and attempted a Level 2 Chemistry external. Students are expected to bring their paper to their class teacher for discussion and acceptance into the L3 course without the above pre-requisites is at the discretion of the HoD.
course description
Chemistry is about understanding the properties of different substances and how these substances can change. Chemistry allows us to predict how substances may alter when the surrounding conditions change, or how they may react to form new substances, and to explain why this happens. Chemists are continually changing matter into new and more useful forms. Advancing from Level 2 Chemistry, students will be studying the nature of particles around them and the types of thermo-chemical reactions. Knowledge of L2 Organic chemistry will be extended by studying more organic groups, their preparation, properties and reactions. Aqueous chemistry extends the L2 Chem chemical reactivity topic to allow students to cope with the concepts at Level 4.
