Suitable for those students who have ability and an interest in game development, enjoy being digitally creative and developing their own solutions to problems. Ideally students would have learnt digital design and/or coding skills at Year 12 or other experiences in design, logical problem solving and using a variety of software programmes.
course description
This course offers the opportunity to further develop the wide range of skills necessary to bring an interactive game experience to life such as UI design, coding game mechanics or video game art & animation.
Students will have the opportunity to work in teams or individually on a year long project, taking them through the design, prototyping and development of an original computer game outcome. There will be the opportunity to gain Achievement Standard credits throughout the year. Software will include a game engine of the students choice, in consultation with their teacher. Adobe Suite programmes such as Photoshop or other digital media tools will be usd to design and develop game backgrounds, animated characters and game objects.
Note: Students cannot select both L3GDD and L3ACP (Animation & Cinematic Production) due to assessment crossover. However students can take multiple L3 Digital Technologies courses apart from this.
